Appearance: Anegè (pronounced AN-na-gay) is 58 years old, but appears to be in her mid-thirties due to the effects of the Silverstar Diadem, which halts visible signs of aging. Slender and physically fit, the Silverstar has the bearing and appearance of an adventuresome scholar. Her skin is fair, and her hair is light brown and shoulderblade-length. When at home and not presiding over some formal function of the Sisterhood, Anegè usually wears a simple tunic or gown, varying from very short to ankle-length; she favors shades of blue and purple. When adventuring (i.e., any time she is off the island), she usually wears her magic leather armor, accepting the 10% spell failure chance and relying upon her magic items to sustain her in the event of unexpected combat. She removes the armor in order to cast spells in a non-pressure situation. Anegè wears her Silverstar Diadem at all times, without exception.
Background: Born in 1314 D.R., Anegè Zinthani showed herself to be a great magical prodigy who cast her first cantrip at age 5, and her first true spell at age 8. Most remarkable was the fact that she was a wizard obliged to learn her spells, not a sorcerer who could manifest powers from within herself. At the age of 12, Anegè became the youngest full member of the Silver Sisterhood in over a century.
By the time Anegè reached her twentieth year, her boundless curiosity and adventurous spirit were already prompting arched eyebrows among the more traditional leaders of the Sisterhood. She went on off-island adventures with no fewer than six different parties, two of which were non-Genifari and included males! While some elders saw this as a disappointing lack of dedication to the Genifari's isolationist traditions, Anegè's ramblings enabled her to introduce the Sisterhood to dozens of new spells and magic items, some of which had been in common use in the outside world for generations, but had never reached Ixinos. Largely through her efforts and those of her friend (and sometime adventuring companion), the bard Ricara Alsani, the Silver Sisterhood now has access to all of the spells listed in the Player's Handbook (plus others of their own invention) and most of the magic items (other than artifacts) listed in the Dungeon Master's Guide.
In 1343 D.R., Takka Silverstar caused a major stir when she named the controversial, 29-year-old Anegè to be her successor as leader of the Sisterhood. While this choice scandalized some of the older Sisters, Anegè was quite popular among the younger ones. She applied herself studiously to learning the ins and outs of her future office, and when Takka died in 1350 D.R. she was ready to take her place.
In her 22 years as Silverstar, Anegè has been a very capable leader, and has become the most powerful mage on Ixinos. As custodian of Stormwatch House, she has access to an unguessable array of magical tools and resources. One of these is the Silverstar Diadem, an artifact that serves as the Silverstar's badge of office. The Diadem is a beautifully wrought silver pendant with a large white diamond set in it. It can be worn only by the rightful Silverstar, and has the following powers:
In 1364 D.R., Anegè took as heart-sister her most gifted apprentice, Rethea, who has since shared Stormwatch House with her. Rethea is a friendly, athletic, very strong, tanned, pretty young woman of 29. She usually accompanies Anegè on her off-island travels. While Anegè still ventures out into the wide world quite often in search of this item or that bit of information, her days of daredevil adventuring are over; she now prefers to employ trustworthy adventuring bands (both Genifari and non-Genifari) to do the more hazardous jobs.
Roleplaying Notes: Although she often seems preoccupied and is quiet by nature, Anegè is quite friendly toward anyone who is friendly to her. Her years of adventuring allow her to speak Common perfectly without an accent, and have also enabled her to interact with men without prejudice -- though like all Genifari, she insists on being treated with respect by any man (or woman). She is very inquisitive and scholarly, and loves old books (especially journals, diaries, travelogues and biographies) and old maps, and enjoys conversing with others who share her interests. Anegè is always on the lookout for interesting new spells and items to take back to Ixinos, and may offer large sums of money to buy such things. She may also commission good-aligned adventuring parties to investigate dungeons thought to contain things of knowledge or power.
Anegè is mild-tempered and patient, and never raises her voice in anger. She is good at negotiating and finding common ground, and keeps her head in crisis situations. She is much beloved by her apprentices and most of the Silver Sisters. Anegè and Rethea are deeply in love and do not hesitate to show it in public...often causing discomfort for outlanders.
