As most fans of Xena: Warrior Princess and Babylon 5 know, "subtext" refers to any clue, given in dialogue, situations, reactions, or visual cues, that two characters may have, or wish to have, a romantic or sexual relationship. Alex and Claudia know their fan-base well enough to know that "all subtext all the time" (as Alex put it) will be a popular direction for Hourglass to go in. Whether the relationship between Aeysha and Chris will remain subtextual or will become "maintext" (i.e., clearly, if not officially, indicated in the show) remains to be seen. This page will contain a running analysis of the subtext/maintext and information about "what we know" regarding the relationship.
