Sands of Time: An Hourglass Fan Site

Latest news: Claudia has signed a letter of intent to star in the sci-fi series Genesis Wars, provided the show actually makes it to production. Hourglass is still a live issue, but not likely see production this year. Several female-driven action shows have recently bitten the dust, but Fox is doing an updated series of the old 60's show Time Tunnel this fall, showing that time-travel shows are still viable.

Welcome to Sands of Time, a fan-based webpage devoted to Hourglass, an adventure TV series currently being developed by the wonderful talents of Claudia Christian (Babylon 5) and Alexandra Tydings (Xena: Warrior Princess and Hercules: The Legendary Journeys).

Alex and Claudia are currently shopping Hourglass around to various producers, and are hoping to have the project underway during this year. Several of the categories on this site (episode guide, subtext guide, and probably fanfic) will be on "standby" mode until the show is actually on the air, but the other sections are up and running now.

Most currently known information about the show itself, and its two main characters, is available on the official Hourglass web site. However, the following additional info is known or rumored:

  • The pilot episode, written by Alex Tydings, is entitled "About Time" and is complete.
  • Persons rumored to be involved (to one degree or another) include Xena writer/producer Steve Sears, actor/director Claire Stansfield (Alti on Xena, and director of Claudia's "Taboo" music video), and producer Peter Bergman.
  • The show deals with time travel, but instead of a different time each episode (like Quantum Leap), each time period will be the location of a multi-episode arc. This is because the method of time travel used is difficult and hazardous in some way.
  • The show will probably be filmed in Australia.
  • There will be lots of subtext between the two main characters.
  • Alex's character, Aeysha, will be a "brainy klutz" who apparently becomes much more graceful while dancing or practicing the martial arts. Claudia's character, Chris, is a few years older than Aeysha and is a weapons (especially firearms) expert as well as an uncontrolled psychic.
